Beit Hinenu COVID Precautions
Generally speaking, [Fall 5782] Hinenu’s Norms for Safety and Care During Covid-19 apply to all Beit Hinenu Programming.
Here are the specific ways these policies apply to each BH program:
Field School
We plan to launch our BH Field School in-person in January 2022, presuming that the positivity rate in Baltimore City remains below 5%. The program will be inside during the winter. We will require that students be fully vaccinated, and students and teachers will wear masks inside as often as possible. As soon as warmer weather enables us to comfortably hold programming outside, the Field School will gather outside when possible.
If you feel flu-like symptoms, however mild, please stay home. If you are unvaccinated or have been exposed to someone who is sick with COVID-19 or has flu-like symptoms, please stay home.
If a student or household member learns of an exposure that occured before participating in any Beit Hinenu program, one that they were not aware of before sending their student to Field School - inform Rachel Kipnes of exposures as early and as often as possible. Rachel will share exposure information discreetly with only those directly affected by the exposure.
In the case that community spread is high (over 5% positivity rate in Baltimore City), AND that the weather does not permit us to gather outside, in-person school will be CANCELED, and families will receive self-guided learning materials.
This decision will be monitored and made by Ed Director Rachel Kipnes, President Michele Levy, R' Ariana Katz and the BH Education Committee and will be communicated with families by email and by phone at least 24 hours before class.
In order to support families in continuing Field School learning with consistency, families can gather in "pods" with mutually agreed upon safety measures.
If this happens for a period of a month, or longer, we will re-evaluate the format of our Field School to ensure successful learning in the safest manner possible.
Teen Kollel
Teen Kollel will mostly gather on Zoom, regardless of COVID-19 spread rates.
In the case that there is a scheduled field trip or an in-person class, and community spread is high (over 5% positivity rate in Baltimore City), Teen Kollel will meet on Zoom.
